Hello, thanks for visiting! I’m Matt Mazewski.
I am an economist, teacher, writer, and proud lifelong New Jerseyan (among other things, and not necessarily in that order).
I earned my Ph.D. in economics from Columbia University in 2022, where I also obtained an M.A. and M.Phil. in the same. I previously received a B.S. in mathematics and economics (High Honors) with a minor in statistics from Haverford College in Haverford, PA.
I am currently:
A Research Associate at the Institute for the Study of Employee Ownership and Profit Sharing at the Rutgers School of Management and Labor Relations, where I work on both scholarly and policy-oriented studies about various forms of worker ownership.
A Consultant for Groundwork Collaborative, where I am helping to develop a new nationally-representative survey on worker sentiment in the U.S.
A Contributing Writer and book critic at Commonweal, where I write on economics, public policy, and Catholic social thought.
An Adjunct Instructor for the Columbia University School of Professional Studies’ Pre-College Programs, where I teach courses on economics and labor studies for high school students.
A Trustee of Myodesopsia International, a patient-led nonprofit dedicated to raising awareness and promoting research about a condition affecting the vitreous body of the eye.
